RECONSTRUCTIVE CRANIOPLASTY AND DUROPLASTY FOR CRANIOSYNOSTOSIS AND MICROCEPHALY WITH ABNORMAL DEVELOPMENT OF BRAIN IN CHILDREN.

Abstract
Recently due to the result of fast development and research of craniofacial surgery, it brought up the standard of plastic and reconstructive surgery and gain its publicity through refomation and reconstruction on congenital anomaly of craniofacial bone, tumors, and trauma.
The purpose of craniofacial surgery in the early life has been mostly known to us for its functional improvement and cosmetic effect.
In 6 cases of patient with abnormal growth in frontal lobe caused by craniosynostosis, microcephaly, we have been tried to do reconstructive cranioplasty(modified Marchac method with anterior cranial vault reshaping) and also duroplasty for cosmetic improvement and more brain expansion in children with abnormal development of brain. We have done in 6 children aged 2 to 9 years old and followed up at least 1 year.
Preoperative abnormal neurofunctional symptoms and signs including poor mentality, speech distrurbance, motor dysfunction, convulsion and cosmetic problem are become to be progressively improved after reconstructive cranioplasty and duroplasty.
In the future contineous progressive observation and research are thought to be essential for the better treatment.
